Re: What software is best for designing teeshirts

Im a designer in the biz myself and I gotta tell ya, if you getting anything screen printed, Adobe Illustrator is always the best way to go. Itll run you a little high price-wise though. Theres also the cheaper alternative Corel Draw, but Corel is to Illustrator what MS Paint is to Photoshop, so its power is a little lacking.

Thats not at all true. Ive been using Illustrator, and after my Fiance moved up here Ive been watching his workflow with CorelDRAW. Let me tell you, CD is EXTEMELY powerful software, and Ill be switching as soon as we can afford a new license.

Re: What software is best for designing teeshirtsI have to start by saying I have been in graphic design for a little over 10 years now. I have used many different programs, and I have to say that despite its prestigious standing- Illustrator cant hold a candle to CorelDraw. I am currently using X3 and it is the easiest, most user- friendly software for any price. Im still not sure why Illustrator gets the praise and CorelDraw gets put down. In My opinion, CorelDraw will always be better than Illustrator.

Photoshop is great software, though

Re: What software is best for designing teeshirtsI have to say that I like Corel draw the best, it is very easy to use. I have been using corel draw since it first came out, and the versions have gotten better and better. I also have adobe photoshop, and I use alot with doing cool things with photos, but as far as graphics I prefer the Corel Draw.

Re: What software is best for designing teeshirts

Now do you design these yourself, or do you have photos that are on the cd that you mix and match, your designs are awesome.

Re: What software is best for designing teeshirtsI have designed some by hand, some are a mix of clipart and my own stuff, and some are from a artist that I bought license of his art( the retro vintage stuff). that is what is nice with corel draw, no matter what experience you have, it is a easy program to use. I dont use the clipart from the cds so much, I pay for a subscription clipart online as they have more to choose from and better quality clipart than the Corel Draw clipart. That is one negative I can say about corel draw is that the clipart it comes with has not come a long way over the years. but the program itself has made leaps and bounds since its earlier versions.

CorelDraw gets my vote. If you can afford the newest x3 version thats the one. If you are on a budget, then look at some of the older versions like v9.0 or v12.0

Re: What is the right software to design T shirts

Wow thats a loaded question. You are right that vector has the advantage of being able to scale up or down with no loss in resolution or detail. It also has other advantages (files size, sharp crisp lines etc…) However that doesnt necessarily make it the best tool for every application. For photorealistic effects and subtle gradients bitmap programs are superior. The particular program you use is really just a matter of prefference. You will get as many different opinions as there are programs. Here are my two cents on the subject. Adobe products are the industry standard. They are the programs of choice in most major graphics related businesses. They are very powerful and have all the bells and whistles. This fact also makes them relatively difficult to learn. There are also free programs that are pretty good and do and adequate job for most appliations. However, These programs are not widely used in commercial envioronments so if you ever intend to work or even exchange files or tips or info with professionals I recomend you dont learn on these because this will make the transition to commercial programs more difficult. Corel Draw is found in most sign and screenprinting shops. Usually along with Illustrator and photoshop. I would recomend you download the the free trials and play around with them untill you find the one you are more comfortable with. If money is an issue corel is cheaper. Goodluck

Re: What is the right software to design T shirtsI know this may sound like a dumb question, but I am a newbie to T-shirt design. Once I have dreamed up a design for my T-shirt, how do I produce it and deliver it to a screen printer or have it heat pressed?

Been using Shirttools for the last 4 years. Its brought in over $60k revenue for a total outlay of $999. Love you guys.

Shirttools have a poor support service. If you have 1 issue expect another issue to come from it when they fix your 1st issue. Was so fed up of the issues and spoke to somebody who was probably the director (but put the phone down on me when I asked for his name). When I was explaining my frustrations to him he told me that the way it works when you fix a issue another will occur. I told him I am not happy with that and his response is what do you want me to do? I explained I wanted to put this in writing but he did not care and said if it makes you feel better. That is poor, so he was probably the director. Think twice before you buy!

What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?I know there is a wide range of software choices available for people wanting to create t-shirt designs. I wonder which are more commonly used?

Ive tried Photoshop, Fireworks, Paint Shop Pro and a few others, but for some reason I seem to always go back to the least expensive one, Paint Shop Pro.

Its probably because I havent gotten over the learning curve of Photoshop (I really need to do that).

Re: What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?I hand draw a lot of my designs, then scan them in as outlines, then work on them in Photoshop. Ive been using Photoshop for a number of years now and am pretty proficient at the parts Im familiar with… but theres still a LOT I have no idea what its for – LOL. For instance, on advice from a friend I recently tried using the curves tool to lighten up a dark photo, rather than the Levels tool, and it worked great – I had no idea – heh.

Re: What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?

Paint Shop Pro is a great tool. I am looking at Photoshop CS and it has some functionality that is lacking in PSPro, but I think the interface is better in PSP than Photoshop. The curved text feature in Photoshop is quite nice.

Re: What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?I use Uleads PhotoImpact. I also have Adobe photoshop and a few others but like Rodney and the learning curve, Ive always gone back to the Ulead. I also use swish for any flash work that i do and beleive it or not ive always used the netscape composer as my html. editor. Never could figure out all the others

Re: What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?Adobe is now coming out with Photoshop CS2, or has come out with already. Im still on an old version, 6.0, but so far its working fine for what I use it for.

I started out with Netscape Composer too, for HTML design. Then I went to Dreamweaver and along the way sort of taught myself the actual html. I mostly handcode now, and use Dreamweaver if Im feeling lazy or for more complex designs when my eyes start crossing at all the coding. *grin*

Ive been hearing lots of good things about GIMP lately too, and its FREE! Id download it if I had more than a slow modem connection and adequate space on my hard drive – heh.

Re: What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?Im all Photoshop, though Im finicky about it. I actually like Photoshop 5.5 better than any later version unless I need to make arched text. Ive got a bunch of curmudgeonly reasons for that, but one tool they changed after 5.5 was the line tool, something I use very often – and I cant stand the new one.

I havent used a vector drawing program in years, but recently in order to make a vector design I painted it in greyscale in Photoshop, then converted it to vector format using Adobe Streamline. This worked out great for me, though Ive heard its more difficult with scanned or other found originals.

Re: What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?wow nobody here uses Illustrator?! Im amazed. I pretty much use illustrator exclusively when working on art work.

Occasionally, if Ive inked my artwork by hand, Ill scan it in and use streamline to vectorize the drawing, then use illustrator to work with the colors.

Other times my design will be based off of a photo and Ill do all the linework from inside illustrator.

Re: What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?

I almost exclusively use Illustrator in the design on our shirts, unless we are incorporating a bitmap/photo into our the design. In that case I prep the photo in photoshop and export and embed in illustrator. I use the bezier tool in Ill to draw most of our designs.

Re: What software do you use to make your t-shirt designs?I draw allot in pencil, scan and color in with PhotoShop. I also use Illustrator for text, line art and certain effects not found in PhotoShop. I like how the text tool goes around circles and shapes in Illustrator. I always open the Illustrator files in PhotoShop and save as PNG files. I like that you can create things rather small in Illustrator and then open them up as large as you want with PhotoShop.

Re: What Software Program Is Easy To Use For Designing Teespring T-shirts For Facebook!

…. just buckle down and use photoshop or illustrator… believe it or not those and the corel products are actually THE EASIEST!!!!…… theyre not the industry standard because theyre super complex and difficult… the only thing that makes it appear hard is the fact that you dont know how to use them. Theres other off brand programs out there… but they dont do anywhere NEAR as much stuff and you may have to spend a while going through a bunch of steps to do something you could do in adobe or corel with 1 or 2 clicks with a certain tool. Aside form that due to Adobe and Corel products being industry standard theres TONS N TONS of tutorials you cant watch on youtube to learn how to use them…. where with some of the offbrand stuff or less popular things you might not be able to find much about them to help you learn how to use them. In my 20 years experience doing graphics Ive come to see that a lot of that stuff is CRAP most of the time anyways… either which way no matter WHAT you choose youre going to have to learn how to use it…. theres no way around it… so you might as well get the best thing you can get and go from there…. learning the others first wont prepare you in any way…. so its pointless to use them right now just starting off gradually graduating to photoshop or illustrator…. just go for it….

Best Graphic Design Software for T-shirts

Here are my favorite picks for the best graphic design software for t-shirts!

At number one of the top 10 graphic design software for t-shirts is the online designer tool from Fat Paint. When it comes to designing cool and diverse t-shirts for individuals of all ages, this is the best solution to consider. It is a highly recommended graphic designer for t-shirt designers with novice experience. It is user friendly and offers you as the designer the ultimate freedom to play around with and enjoy the amazing features that it has to offer. This tool brings with it a whole lot of features including excellent responsiveness and flexible design templates besides t-shirts.

Amazing features is what this software has to offer. It brings with it a vast array of font collections, garment templates, artwork, barcode scanning and an image library. It is undeniably one of the most comprehensive t-shirt graphic designing software applications in the market. There is the trial version which is free but you can buy the full-feature software that goes for slightly less than $900.

This is yet another excellent software application for t-shirt graphic designing. Design N Buy goes for $150. It is touted to be an all-in-one t-shirt design software that comes with preloaded templates, clip arts and fonts. The best thing about this program is probably the fact that it can be integrated to a majority of e-commerce platforms including X-Cart, Magento, OsCommerce and more.

The best thing about this software is that it is so easy to use. It is also free and it comes with a bunch of tools that allow you to select an item to design. Altering the color, art and text is also very easy. It comes highly recommended because it can also be employed to design other items including caps.

This software will set you back some $2,500. However, the quality of service that it offers its users is incredibly good. It brings with it a wide array of design options that allow you the choice of text, size, color and clip arts that you want. On top of that, it has an e-commerce solution that will help you manage your business effectively. It is possible to automatically process payments made by customers using this software as it can be linked to the popular payment gateways quite easily.

It offers a variety of features that will assist you in growing your business. The most basic feature of this program is the T-shirt Designer which is accompanied by a web-based WYSIWYG editor to allow you to select a t-shirt design, color, label as well as cut. The best thing about this program is the functionalities that allow for the easy management of shipment, inventory control, tax payment and accounting.

This program is created by Art Explosion and it is sold for only $29.95. Creating custom-design t-shirts and other apparel should not be a problem at all when using this program. It can be employed to design all sorts of t-shirts including photo t-shirts and shirts with a business logo. Once the designing is done, the design is printed out on a transfer paper. The design can then be transferred to any kind of apparel by simply ironing it on and peeling.

This is one program that you can employ to design t-shirts and a whole lot of other apparel. It offers lots of feature and shapes, effects and fonts that you can employ in your designing. There is a monthly subscription fee of $19 to be paid. It is however not the easiest of programs for beginners to use.

Closing this list of the graphic design software for t-shirts is CorelDraw Graphics Suite. Anyone who is familiar with CorelDraw can use it to design t-shirts. This is a vector graphics program that allows users to design just about anything including the said t-shirts. It comes with an abundance of color choices, fonts and clip arts that you can use to design t-shirts. It may also be hard for beginners to employ but it can be downloaded for free.

Great Collection. But, Adobe Illustrator is the best design application.

As I am still learning, I say the quality is pretty good. I havent tried out all the settings yet, but I guess when I learn how to use different programs to print out onto the transfer paper better, I think I would get even better results.

Re: what software to use when designing t-shirt?

As far as actually printing things goes (which seems to be your main focus?), almost any program will work. I do most of my designing in Photoshop, and save a PNG when I have a finished design. Then, I use a freeware program calledIrfanviewto print these off when I need to (a lot faster than waiting for Photoshop to load when all you need to do is print).

Re: what software to use when designing t-shirt?Photoshop is fairly easy to use. Great for photo manipulation. Not a great drawing program though.

Illustrator can make very realistic drawings when used properly. Each has their advantages, but I would say that Photoshop would be the better start.

Re: what software to use when designing t-shirt?grab yourself a wacom tablet. lot less chance of carpeltunnel and faster once you get used to it.

at work, i work almost independantly with photoshop. sometimes illustrator. i use it only if the customer has sent in a nice vector file with all the pantone colors chosen, etc etc, otherwise, ill just drop into photoshop with really high dpi and run with it. i can separate faster in there than in illustrator if the ai file has a ton of shapes overlapping each other. egad those are a pain.

Re: what software to use when designing t-shirt?

I use a Photoshop and a wacom tablet to create my designs. This is the industry standard software use by most t-shirt artists.

I like Corel the best but do most of my work in my sign programs for the plotter (flexi).

Definitely Corel Draw is more sophisticated then Illustrator. Its much easier to work with vectors in Corel. Id say, twice as easy.
